THE PUBLIC MEETING

On Monday 8th January a Public Meeting was held in the school, and I went along to say my piece!

I was struck by the strength of support - the Shirley Hall was filled to capacity. I was also struck by the total unity of all present. Never before have I been in a meeting where nobody disagreed with anything that another person had said! After two hours, and countless contributions from those present, the meeting was forcibly wound up - otherwise it would probably have gone on all night.

I was also struck by the maturity and sincerity of those Blue Coat students who spoke at the meeting, and there was no hiding the passion with which they defended their school, of which they were so obviously, and rightly, proud.

The main speakers were Headmaster "Sandy" Tittershill and Chairman of the Governors Chris Hallows, both pictured below.

Lots of ideas were put forward, and some of them are included on the "ACTION" page of this website.

The deadline for "consultation" with the Secretary of State was 9th February 2007!  We are now awaiting his decision.
